  4. Posso fazer uma pergunta?ย  O Srย Jorge disse (7:58) “onde a gente faz”. Jรก deparei-me com esta forma significando “we”ย  mas na forma singular, portanto “where we make..”. A minha pergunta รฉ porquรช? Alguรฉm podia explicar-me por que razรฃo nรฃo diz apenas “nรณs fazemos”?ย  ย Daria uma nuanca diferente? ย Muito obrigada.

    1. Yes for the Portuguese Bica/expresso is the normal black cup of coffee, but thatโ€™s the small cup – very strong. But in case for you a normal straight black cup of coffee is something bigger and a little more diluted, then make sure to ask for the abatanado or abatanado cheio ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

  7. Hi Carla, Iโ€™m learning Portuguese and am a native Spanish speaker. I find it easier to understand some speakers and others Iโ€™m just lost. I very much understand both of you on this video and was wondering if you could share which region you the gentlemen are. Iโ€™m curious if I am finding certain regions to understand easier. Thanks.

    1. Olรก, N Maiso ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ Iโ€™m not sure where sr. Jorge is from but Iโ€™d say heโ€™s from the Grande Lisboa area and so am I. Thatโ€™s probably the accent youโ€™ve been exposed to before and therefore easier for you to understand ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ Also, itโ€™s not just about the accent but how clearly some people pronounce their words and obviously the speed in which they speak will also make a difference.

  9. Hands down, the most awesome videos/Portuguese lessons online! Your videos make me very, very happy! ๐Ÿ˜

  10. I have listened to this three times so far as we will be in the north for a month soon. Thank goodness for slow playback to help me pronounce what we will try and order :). What is a macchiato called and can I shorten descafeinado to decaf some how or just learn the whole word? It sounded like he was saying descaf? Obrigada, this is super helpfulโ˜•๏ธโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

    1. Macchiato in Portuguese is cafรฉ pingado. And Iโ€™m afraid we say the who word for decaf: descafeinado.
So phonetically you will ask for: ca-FEH peenโ€™GAH-doo dโ€™sh-ca-fay-NAH-doo ๐Ÿ˜

Hope you have a lovely time in Portugal!

    2. @Portuguese With Carla Muito obrigada Carla! So sweet of you to phonetically spell it out for me! Thatโ€™s really kind! And itโ€™s fine to have the whole word, this way I get more courage to have to say the whole order ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ’ช. I thought macchiato was pingado but wasnโ€™t sure so thank you for setting me straight! We will be cycling Portugal for a month and certainly will be asking for coffees everywhere!

    3. @amanda Tkids wow your trup to Portugal sounds like itโ€™s going to be an exciting one! ๐Ÿค— have fun and enjoy your pingados!

    4. @Portuguese With Carla Obrigada Carla! With your help and guidance, I may actually get what I will be ordering everywhere:)

๐Ÿค”

    1. De nada, Sabrina. Tens razรฃo, eu tambรฉm ๐Ÿ˜„

  12. Cannot believe how many different coffees there are in Portugal! ๐Ÿ˜… The video was very fun! Need more explanation on the differences between each one ๐Ÿ˜€
